Canada is a spectacular nation – a country of shocking natural beauty, political stability and economic strength. It is a developed nation with well-educated people that enjoy a high standard of living. It comes as no surprise, therefore, that property is not very cheap, and the potential for bargains is limited at best. There will be times when something good will come about, but only the most committed of off plan investors will search long enough to find something truly bargainous. Nevertheless, Canada is a legitimately awesome country in the truest sense of the word, and anyone that can afford to do so should certainly look at a life in Canada. Aside from second and holiday homes, the buy-to-let market is another area that off plan buyers can get in on, with many tourists hiring out properties for the length of their stays. Ottawa and the other main cities of Canada are obviously the main spots for investment, and whilst prices do vary it isn’t by a huge amount – the decision is more to personal preference than anything else, if the buyer is determined to live in a city. Suburban areas offer more traditional homes, and more out of the way towns offer some real treats out in the fantastic Canadian wilderness. Those daring enough may even want to look to the north, for some icy abodes to put their money into. Prices range from anything as low as $75,000 for a decent apartment up to millions of dollars for luxury mansions, with everything else in between. Those looking for a long term investment and not bothered about fast, high returns could do a lot, lot worse than Canada. The country is home to a strong, stable economy which is diversifying with each passing year and it is sure to hold strong – this, coupled with the developed property market does mean that prices are not likely to skyrocket in coming years. It does mean, however, that prices are near-guaranteed to at least hold. The country isn’t an investor’s paradise, but it is certainly a paradise for those looking for a second home or somewhere to start a new life. Canada is an utterly stunning country and one well worth taking notice of.
